News Week - 07/29/13

Today--7/30--marks the sixth year Clanniversary! Six years ago today, I wrote the first page of CLAN. The book went through a ton of cycles and I am happy to finally share CLAN with everyone this fall.

In other news, the copyedit for CLAN is complete! Next up is proof. I will post some teasers once the text is ready.

To celebrate, here are some book-related links!

15 Books That Changed You Profoundly

Now I will wrap up with a quote from Mr. Murakami because it reminds me that publishing is about patience:

"Now all you can do is wait. It must be hard for you, but there is a right time for everything. Like the ebb and flow of tides. No one can do anything to change them. When it is time to wait, you must wait."
— Haruki Murakami
Hope you enjoyed the links! Stay tuned for more news and happy summer reading!

CLAN - Cover

At long last, more book release information! First off, the cover. I've sketched over forty thumbnails before settling on the design, which oddly enough, was the first concept I mocked up six years ago when I first-drafted the novel. The cover relates to a scene in the book and was inspired by the idea of cookie-cutter gingerbread men. The Clans are a minimalist, super clean, structured society, so I wanted to keep my cover simple to represent the story.

Clans are Unity.

No variation. No deviation.

On Clades, to be a Clan is to be an exact copy.
A perfect society cloning themselves to survive,
even as the zombie-like Frags threaten to overrun them
on an unforgiving planet.

Clan 1672 (privately known as Twain)
was never supposed to survive the Incubation Tank.
But he did. Illegally.
He is different from the other Clans.

A secret that could destroy him.

CLAN will be out: 11 / 12 / 13

Stay tuned for more previews!

News Week - 07/15/13

I'm excited to go see Pacific Rim. I love kaiju and mecha--it's the stuff of my childhood. What did you think of the movie? Many of my friends have said great things about it. I'm also happy and honored that there is Portal influence in Pacific Rim!

In other news, CLAN is now out of line editing and is in the hands of my copyeditor. My copyeditor reported to me that the edit is going well and the manuscript is "very clean" which is pretty surreal to think about.

Tomorrow, I am posting the release information for CLAN. (More surreal yet!) I hope you all enjoy the upcoming post!
